Credit card minimum payment calculator
The minimum on a UAE card shrinks as the balance shrinks, so paying it chases the balance down for years. Enter your balance and rate to see how long the minimum path takes, what it costs, and what a fixed amount every month does instead.
Your card
From the statement.
The minimum is taken as a share of the balance each month with a floor, and interest is charged on the balance monthly. Fees and new spending are not included, which is why the real path is usually longer than this one.
The two paths
Paying only the minimum
11 yr 8 mo
Starting at AED 900 a month and shrinking. The interest along the way is AED 25,100.
Paying AED 900 every month
2 yr 7 mo
Interest along the way: AED 9,899. That is AED 15,201 less than the minimum path.
- Interest on the minimum path
- AED 25,100
- Total paid on the minimum path
- AED 43,100
- Interest on the fixed path
- AED 9,899
The minimum keeps the account in good standing; it does not pay the debt. Converting the balance to a loan at a reducing rate, or a fixed payment above the interest, are the two ways out, and the credit-card guide works both.
What happens if you don't pay a credit card in the UAEHow this works
What it assumes
Each month the balance grows by the monthly rate and shrinks by the payment. On the minimum path the payment is the larger of the floor and the share of the balance; on the fixed path it is the amount you typed. The count stops at zero or at fifty years.
What it doesn't know
It does not know your card's exact minimum formula, its fees, or anything you spend on it from now on. Add a late fee or a new purchase and the path is longer than shown.
